Whether you're looking to become a zero waste home composter, or to just simply be that little bit greener, we’ll help get you there with a couple of easy eco-friendly switches.
I’m Stacey (hi!), the founder of Plant & Prosper. Plant & Prosper was born from two main passions that ultimately formed the foundations of this community.
Let me tell you a little bit more about these.
Foundation 1: Less Plastic
Nusa Lembongan, Indonesia, 14th July 2015
I like every other traveller heading to Nusa Lembongan was going for one thing. Manta Rays. Huge, gentle giants that glide through the oceans filtering plankton and krill through their enormous mouths.
On the 45 minute scuba dive, I saw one of these beautiful creatures, but sadly it was difficult to see through all of the trash and plastic in the ocean. Similar to the below...
(Disclaimer: video from ViralPress)
That was quite some time ago. Since then I have been on my own low waste journey to play my part in keeping the oceans and the rest of our planet clean. Like many, I started with simple switches. Saying no to plastic bags… which lead to a juggling act of avocados and oranges on the walk home. Then switching to a bamboo toothbrush, metal straw, reusable safety razors and so on. Going through this change and process myself, I know how challenging and frustrating it can be to know where to start. So now the time has come to help others on their journey and make it easy with some simple sustainable switches. Together we can work towards a sustainable future, leaving this earth with nothing left behind but footprints in the sand. (Or close to).
Foundation 2: More trees
The devastating bushfires that recently tore through Australia broke my heart, as I’m sure they did yours. 18.6 million hectares (that’s 186,000 square kilometres OR 2,034,120 football fields!) turned to ash. During this time, I woke to thick smog daily… and that does not come close to what others went through. Whilst this event was catastrophic, every day 80,000 acres of forests disappear from the earth! (source). The Amazon Rainforest, Indonesia, Philippines, and many more are heavily affected by deforestation, with a recent report from WWF stating that 50% of forest wildlife has been killed. These are clear signs that changes need to be made - It’s time to act.
So, what can we do? Use LESS PLASTIC and plant MORE TREES is what we can do!
That’s why all of our products are designed with the aim of eradicating single use plastics, minimising the rest, and with the additional reward of planting a tree to restore the earth.
Why the name?
Firstly, who doesn’t love alliteration?
Secondly, I truly believe reforestation can lead to a life of peace and prosperity where we all can flourish.
If you've read this far, thank you - we look forward to sharing this sustainability journey with you!
